Angel of Hope is a local nonprofit created in response to prayer and a clear call to action. Founded by Christie Younger and Beth Vannoy, Angel of Hope serves children experiencing severe poverty in Wilkes County, North Carolina, an area with a staggering level of need.

Working closely with school social workers, guidance counselors, nurses, and administrators, Angel of Hope identifies children in crisis and responds directly to their most immediate needs.

The organization began after a local educator shared a prayer describing children who feared school breaks because they meant losing warm meals, safe spaces, and basic necessities. Letters to Santa asking for a warm home, a bed, or help paying bills revealed a level of hardship that could not be ignored. What started as one request for prayer quickly revealed a much deeper and ongoing need.

Angel of Hope exists to provide direct financial support as needs arise, including assistance with utilities, food, clothing, bedding, transportation, housing, healthcare, and school-related debt that can prevent graduation.

Above all, the mission is to help children feel seen, loved, and valued, and to remind them of God’s love and promise of hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

Funds are raised through the sale of Angel of Hope paintings created by renowned artist and founder, Christie Younger, which have drawn support from across the United States, as well as through local benevolent giving. Donations may be made at Fruit of the Vine Boutique or Christie Younger Fine Art Studio in North Wilkesboro, NC.
